Things started for our Wellington-based Project Manager, Steve Judge, working on the tools, initially as a hammer hand and then as a roof tiler. Developing a well-rounded skillset from an early age eventually led to the creation of his own painting and decoration businesses on both sides of The Ditch. In fact, having lived in Aussie for more than a dozen years before returning to the Kapiti Coast, by his own admission it rubbed off on him so much over there that he’ll now choose League over Union any day of the week. The Kapiti lifestyle suits him to a tee, being truly at home living by the beach, and outside of work you’ll find Steve most at ease sipping on a good coffee and spending time relaxing with family and friends – a nice counterbalance to the drive and commitment he brings to managing projects for Carus in our wider Wellington region. Incidentally, we asked Steve what gets him out of bed in the morning – and perhaps only half-jokingly he responded “Usually my wife’s right foot”… let’s hope she doesn’t read our website, or it might up being an even stronger wake up call tomorrow
For the newest Blake to join the Carus Team, life at home is firmly centered around family. With a background as a police officer, there isn’t much that phases him – though by his admission, his almost 1-year-old boy usually finds a way to keep him on his toes. Like many other kiwis, sport forms the backbone of the rest of his life outside work, particularly rugby, rugby league, fishing and diving, and you can see why his favourite quote is “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. We asked him to share a funny story or two about himself, but that training for his previous career has seen him stay tight-lipped thus far… we’ll keep you posted if that situation changes in the future
Step into a living piece of history at the Old Government Building, a true testament to New Zealand's architectural heritage. Constructed in 1876, this majestic edifice stands as New Zealand's largest and grandest wooden building, and the second largest wooden structure globally, holding the distinguished honor of a Category 1 Historic Building. In a harmonious partnership with the past, Carus has undertaken a monumental task in preserving the Wooden Government Building's splendor. Our dedicated efforts include meticulous preparation, precise painting, and carefully coordinated works performed in stages to seamlessly integrate this historic masterpiece into the modern University landscape.
